Change of personnel at the Board of Directors of Bio Development AG


Seon, 28 May 2019 - After its formalisation at the general meeting on 27 May 2019, an unusually comprehensive change of personnel will take place on the Board of Directors of Bio Development AG. The decision was derived and taken amicably and in agreement with all parties who are directly involved.

Experience gathered in the last few years has shown that the nature of Bio Development AG ideally requires a Board of Directors composed directly of shareholders or their delegates.

Consequently, the following individuals will depart from the Board:

– Dr. Fabio Brescacin
– Georg Kaiser
– Urs Neuenschwander
– Dr. phil. Samuel Rom

Ernst Schütz was elected to join the Board on 27 March 2019.

In 2019, an advisory committee will be set up to deal with future issues. The committee will share its experience and provide the Board of Directors with external impulses. Prospective members of the committee include:

– Fabio Brescacin
– Georg Kaiser

Consequently, Bio Development AG will be represented by the following Board of Directors:
Markus Lüthi, Chairman

Born 1958. Married, 3 adult children, 2 grandchildren. Raised in the Bernese Oberland. Currently resident in Wabern, near Bern.

Basic commercial training in La Neuveville and Thun. Studied business administration in Bern with a major in marketing. Following experience in management consultancy at Helbling in Zurich, various operational management positions in trade and industry. 1994 acquisition of FRIAP AG in Bern. Development into a medium-sized company for renewable energy technology with subsidiaries in Germany and Italy. 2014 sale of the com¬pany to one of its key competitors in Switzerland.

Since 2014 numerous active directorships, including as management delegate for CoOpera Beteiligungen AG.

Dr. Marco Arduini

Born 1966. Studied business administration at the University of Milan. Between 1988 and 1999 he was an export manager in Hong Kong for Egon Zehnder International and a marketing director for Unilever in Milan and London.

Since 1993 he has been active in the metals industry with Italy’s Euro Group and is now CEO of the international concern which has revenues of around EUR 180 m.

Niklaus Schär

Born in 1958. Father of 3 children. Grew up in the country in Emmental, now lives in Schafisheim/Lenzburg.

Niklaus Schär did his Matura and then completed postgraduate training in management at the University of St. Gallen. Along with 30 years of working in textile industry business, he has also been active in project development in the property sector for around 20 years. He has mandates, as well as a share of the responsibility, in several cooperatives and boards. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the CoOpera collective foundation.

Niklaus Schär has an active interest in the coherence of society as a whole, and in past and present principles of culture design.

Ernst Schütz

Born 1951, father of 4 children. Ernst Schütz has a master craftsman diploma in biodynamic agriculture and is a pioneer and prime mover in the ecological field.

He set up Natura, a natural textile company, and subsequently joined the Hess-Natur management where he was responsible for collections, marketing, advertising and quality before becoming CEO of the company “Waschbär der Umweltversand”.

“Waschbär der Umweltversand” is the leading company on the ecological product market. As CEO, Ernst Schütz was responsible for the restructuring and reorganisation of the company and for the development of the brand at the European level. Since the MBO of the company in 2006, the company has been working consistently on the issues of succession and future ownership.

Ernst Schütz is both a driving force and a founding member of the Purpose Foundation which was set up in Basel in 2015 and assists companies which are joining the Purpose structure. In 2018, he sold his company according to the standards of the Purpose statutes which prohibit any resale, inheritance or profit-taking by fiduciary owners.

At present, Ernst Schütz is working on the development of biodynamic agriculture in the field of silk production in China. On top of this, he is an advisory member of various impact investment boards.

His hobbies include cooking, sailing, snowboarding and travelling.
